Gray Area

The Kings of Caz is a rock group consisting of two singer-songwriters:

Nate Zappala was raised in Syracuse, New York.  He currently works as an art teacher in Buffalo, where he resides with his wife.  In addition to songwriting, Nate is also an accomplished artist (primarily ceramics), and his work has been featured in local galleries and exhibits in Western New York.

Jonah Michael is a native of Upstate New York, growing up in Syracuse and attending school in Ithaca.  He currently resides in Boston, where he continues to write and record music.

The group is also proud to feature instrumental accompaniment and production assistance by Mike Gray.  Mike is a freelance musician and recording engineer who works on independent projects in Upstate New York.

Gray Area

    

Released on October 10, 2010, Gray Area is a culmination of nearly four years of songwriting and recording for The Kings of Caz.

Since the release of Rain or Shine in early 2007, we recorded nearly forty new songs, making many of them available for free download as an ongoing project entitled The FolkRock Sessions.  Gray Area is a carefully chosen lineup of fourteen of these songs spanning numerous genres, including rock, acoustic, blues, funk, pop, and even hip hop.  The album was produced and mixed by Mike Gray and The Kings of Caz, and was mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago, Illinois.
